LE GROUPE

Formé en 1978 à Glasgow  - Genre : Rock, ballades

Le groupe pop rock Simple Minds se forme en 1978 à Glasgow en Ecosse. Il se compose de Charlie Burchill (guitare), de Jim Kerr (chant), de Tony Donald (basse), de Brian McGee (batterie) et de Mick McNeil (clavier). Tony Donald est rapidement remplacé par Derek Forbes. La formation signe son premier album Life in a day en 1979. Suivent Real to real cacophony (1979), Empires and dance (1980),Sons and fascination (1981) et Sister feelings call (1981). En 1982, Simple Minds sort New gold dreams (81-82-83-84) qui est son premier album à rentrer dans les charts américains. Brian McGee, effrayé par cette popularité naissante, quitte le groupe. Il est remplacé par Mal Gaynor. Suit Sparkle in the rain (1984). La notoriété du groupe explose en 1985 avec le titre Don’t you (forget about me) extrait de la musique du film The breakfast club. Simple Minds signe la même année l’album Once upon a time . En 1989, il enregistre Street fighting years puis Real life (1991) suivi de Good news from the next world (1995). Le line up se modifie et en 1996 seuls Jim Kerr et Charlie Burchill demeurent de la formation originelle. La discographie ci-dessous ne reprend pas les "best of" sans interêt
