LE GROUPE

Le groupe écossais Runrig fut formé en 1973 par trois artistes, Rory MacDonald, Calum MacDonald et Blair Douglas. L'année suivante arriva Donnie Monroe. Douglas quitta ensuite le groupe et fut remplacé par Robert MacDonald, qui est mort d'un cancer en 1986.

Runrig connut plusieurs changements avant de se stabiliser avec les MacDonalds, Munro, Peter Wishart, Iain Bayne et Malcolm Jones. Runrig joue de la musique folklorique ecossaise traditionnelle avec un son bien à eux. On les connaît aussi pour leur énergie pleine d'entrain.

Le groupe est monté rapidement depuis leur signature chez Chrysalide pour leur album le plus vendu aux USA : The cutter and the clan. Très populaires en Grande-Bretagne, ils sont devenus un véritable culte aux Etats Unis dans les milieux celtiques.
